Director of Development

Two positions open: 1) Director of Development for the College of Education and the College of Science and Mathematics; 2) Director of Development for the Richards College of Business.

Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Director of Development works closely with the Dean and/or Program Director of an assigned academic or non-academic unit to provide strategic direction for all major gift fundraising activities. This includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects for current and future gifts of $25,000 or more as part of a comprehensive fundraising program; and guiding, leading and working with the dean or program leadership of assigned area in all aspects of fundraising.

The Director of Development will work with an assigned portfolio of prospects and will be expected to achieve agreed upon fundraising metrics and goals.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer a background in major gift fund raising in higher education

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3-5 years in major gift fund raising. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build rapport with prospects from diverse backgrounds. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, possess a strong energy level and work ethic. Must be able to think strategically and work proactively with little supervision.


Work closely with the Executive Director and the Dean and/or program director in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of assigned prospects.
Actively participate in activities associated with the University, the Advancement Division, and assigned academic or non-academic area as part of the broader academic community.
Attend regularly scheduled development meetings.

Salary: $56,204 - $79,308
