Position Title:
Accountant III (Req. #STA001135)

Position Summary:
Advancement Services. The Accountant III is central to the effectiveness of the fundraising efforts of University Advancement and performs accounts payable functions and duties related to gift and pledge administration, database maintenance, general ledger activity, report generation and analysis, research and problem resolution, reconciliation processes and operational needs. The Accountant III position requires a high level of organization, efficiency, discretionary judgement and the ability to understand and interpret compliance requirements. The ability to work as a team, provide excellent customer service and maintain donor privacy is critical.

Essential Job Functions
• Manages all accounts payable functions.
• Accurately records and documents charitable contributions and non-contribution income via multiple payment methods.
• Posts transactions and makes adjustments to the general ledger.
• Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts.
• Assists in preparation of internal/external audits and other audits.
• Researches gift / fundraising issues and make recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree; four or more years of related experience; in-depth knowledge of accounting theories and principles and systems design; ability to identify problems and changing requirements regarding management needs, fiscal procedures, account structures or reports, and accounting systems; ability to analyze information and develop new business processes; monitor and collect data to assess the accuracy and integrity of data; ability to ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control; ability to work well in a diverse environment; effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing and advance Excel data analysis functions; successful completion of background investigation and credit check prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five or more years of accounting experience in higher education, Banner and/or Financial Edge Experience, knowledge of IRS regulations regarding charitable contributions.

Salary Range:
Commensurate with Experience
